Textures and Halftones

This project was me exploring Textures and Halftones. I saw a tutorial on Skillshare and I really wanted to work at this kind of grungy style of art. I liked giving the top a border that the bottom half of the piece could then break out of.

This project actually lead me in a couple of different directions. The first you can see with the deer in the forest. I started to play with this reduced detail kind of work. I started to play around and see how much of a shape I could remove with it still being recognizable and I actually took this thought process into a couple more projects that I worked on.
This car took me in an entirely different direction. I actually created this because I love the shape of the Volkswagen Beetles. I thought it would make for a great subject for a grungy textured piece. I also wanted to challenge myself with a limited color palette again. This entire piece only had 3 colors, which I then changed blending modes and used halftones to create the other colors. I picked a color palette where the colors wouldn't work as easily together to create shadows and halftones and challenged myself to just make it look nice. I loved this piece so much that I actually repeated it but in a different setting.

Around the time that I finished this I got a project at work (I was working as a marketing student while in college for the I.T. department) to create a sticker. Every year we would give away 2 stickers at the beginning of the school year and then continue to give them away throughout the school year until we didn't have any more. It was like a game to the faculty, staff, and returning students to see who could collect them all. I was still leaning heavily into this style so I decided to channel this into my first sticker project
